Overview of Course
The course is aimed at experienced CXR reporting radiographers keen to further develop their skills in CXR interpretation through a basic understanding of chest CT.
The course will be a mixture of lectures and case review. There will be a focus on CT thoracic anatomy, CT common patterns of disease and the comparison between the appearance on CT and CXR. There will be discussion on how the radiologist uses CT when reporting a CXR. During the day, delegates will have the opportunity to review a selection of CT and CXR cases on PACs bin prior to discussion.
Learning Objectives
To understand anatomy of the lung on CT and how to compare between CT and CXR
To understand anatomy of the heart and mediastinum on CT and the comparison between CT and CXR
To recognise common patterns of disease on CT including collapse, consolidation
To understand how the radiologist uses CT when reporting CXR

The course is designed to be suitable for CXR reporters irrespective of level of experience.

0945-1015. Anatomy of the thorax. CXR vs CT
1015-1045. Common patterns of lung abnormality. CXR vs CT
1045-1130. Set of 20 CXR/CTs for review
Break
1145-1230. Cases discussed.
Lunch
1315-1400. Mediastinal pathology. Appearance on CT vs CXR
1400-1445. Set of 20 CXR/CT for review
1445-1530. Cases discussed.
1530-1600. How the radiologist uses CT when reporting CXRs.
