Bronze Expedition

All students in year 9 at XP trust take part in the bronze DofE expedition without discrimination, making reasonable and equitable adjustments where necessary.

There are many myths as to the expectations and requirements of successfully completing a DofE expedition, however, whilst following the DofE guidance and 20 conditions of the expedition our aim is for pupils to have a purposeful, successful and appropriately challenging expedition, gaining knowledge, skills and further developing their sense of crew. Expeditions are supervised by a team of experienced and qualified Expedition Supervisors will additional support from Crew leaders.

Crews work together problem solving to overcome differences such as fitness levels, food choices, navigational decisions, taking on roles and responsibilities, sharing the load of carrying all their equipment within their expedition groups.

The qualifying expedition that students train and practice for is 2 days hiking and 1 night camping. The program leading to this may vary at different schools but all students will take part in training and preparations set out by the DofE training framework and need to be deemed competent to take part by their Expedition Supervisor.

Please speak with your crew leader initially if you have any worries or concerns about the expedition.
