Xinmin has been tapping on the Google Suite platform for teaching and learning for many years in our drive to prepare our students to be collaborative and self-directed learners. As such, choosing a Chromebook as our students' personal learning device is quite natural as it allows our teachers and students to transit seamlessly and tap readily on the affordances of Chromebooks.

Chromebooks, as compared to laptops, also tend to be lighter, have faster boot up times, and are equipped with battery life that easily last a full day (when used between idle and active states).  They are also more affordable than tablets with similar functionalities e.g keyboard, stylus, mouse, touchscreen and dual cameras. To select our students' personal learning devices, we have carefully compared the devices available and weighed out the pros and cons, including the cost, purpose and intent of the devices.
