What you need to do for HBL (Academic Lessons)?
Check on the Lesson Synopses on the HBL Schedulers found on the School Website/Resources/For Students & Parents
THINGS TO TAKE NOTE OF:
Students are advised to check on Lesson Schedulers for latest changes the evening before HBL day.
If you are taking any out of stream subjects or G2/G3 subject levels, please look at the respective higher level tab for instructions.
Do take note that HBL lessons will comprise mixed use of resources in combination of offline/online learning. These can include textbooks, school-prepared materials, or internet resources which you can draw reference to.
Both Student Learning Space (SLS) and Google Classroom are utilized as our standard e-learning platforms and students are advised to ensure that they can gain access to these platforms.
Access to Student-Learning Space (SLS)/Google Classroom -
Student Learning Spaces (SLS) can be accessed through MIMS account (Chromebook ID/PW or Student icon email address with password)
Students who have problems in accessing SLS and Xinmin Gmail should follow the password reset instructions on the school website.
Please double check your accounts are working fine before HBL day.

Students without access to the computer or/and internet before HBL day should inform their Form Teachers so that alternate arrangement can be arranged for you in school. Your Sec 1 FTs would have filled up the Form indciating the students coming back.If you are coming to school, remember you need to sign in and out of the log book. For students coming back, you are to come in by 8 am and only allowed to leave from 12 onwards.
Students are encouraged to be responsible & self-directed and carry out HBL according to the instructions and refer to the BlendedLearning@XMS microsite which will be shared out to you later
Students are to follow through any assigned lessons and assignments given.
Do take note that the content usually delivered through HBL is part of the learning flow and they will not be repeated as classroom lessons.
Students must plan and pace themselves and carry out the assigned learning tasks as required at the start of HBL day.
We encourage students to take this opportunity to exercise responsibility in their own learning e.g. making notes, checking on their own gaps in understanding for certain topics, creating a list of questions that require clarification etc. Your teachers will usually monitor your participation and check on the completion of assigned tasks on the e-platforms.
Students are advised to give themselves in-between breaks after every 45 – 60 minutes when working in front of computers. Most lessons are pegged to an hour basis and having a short break in between lessons will be relaxing for the eyes and mind.
Students must refrain from clustering their computer-related lessons at one go in the evening. Proper time management interspersed with offline readings is encouraged. In addition, student must learn to exercise self-discipline and not be easily distracted whilst online.
If there is a need for clarification of any assigned lesson, the student is advised to contact their teachers through email. The list of teachers’ official email addresses is provided on our school website.
