Bruce is a self-taught photographer based in Cape Town. He mostly deos commercial work with clients such as Block and Chisel, Andrew Dominic Furniture, Shooshoos, Sticky Fudge Clothing, Tile Afirica and Campo Marzo. He likes the challenge of taking something ordinary and with the help of my knowledge, experience, and equipment, making it look extraordinary.
He grew up in a house full of flowers; his mother picked and arranged them, and his father painted them. The entire house was decorated with these pictures, meaning the entire family was constantly surrounded by flowers.
Bruce also dabble in creating art. This has been a somewhat painful journey for him. It has taken him many years to find his niche, and self confidence in creating, he also said that in many ways he is still finding it. For many years Bruce did not feel good enough. During the beginning of Covid he came to the realisation that if he work with the skills that he have acquired in commercial photography and if he use the images that Bruce have already captured and kept so diligently, he would be able to create artwork that people.
Image Analysis
Frozen flower photography by Bruce creates a new meaning for these flowers. The way he arranges the flowers in the water before frozen really changes the aesthetic of the photo. Bruce achieved this photo by arranging the flowers in a tub of water then freeze it. He cracks the ice in different ways to create this wonderful photo.
The cracks in the ice help to add layers and texture to the photo making it stand out. Bruce also used artificial light on the flowers at different angles to achieve the perfect details of the flowers. He also picks the colours of the flowers very carefully to make sure the photo stays bold and vibrant adding a purpose to the photo.
The flowers create a very joyful and upbeat mood. The photo also demonstrates how the layout and colours of simple objects create a new meaning to the photo making it eye-caching and unique.

First I masked the background to make it all black as seen in the photos. I Then masked the ice block its self and then focused on just getting the right blend of colours and editing everything within the ice,
