Lessons of Competence: 6, 9, 15
Andy Ott was born and raised in Bolivia, South America. His parents were in the process of translating Scriptures for the Ignaciano people of central Bolivia when he arrived on the scene. He grew up seeing the impact that the translated Scripture had on individuals, families, communities, and cultures. Andy and his family moved to Peru, South America, in 1993 with Wycliffe/JAARS to help provide safe, quick, reliable transportation in and out of remote jungle locations in support of Bible translation. Then in 2000, they moved back to the Wycliffe USA Headquarters to work in recruiting the needed personnel to make Vision 2025 become a reality! He has been mobilizing and recruiting ever since!
Andy and his wife, Jan, have two adult children: Daniel (married to Danielle) and Hannah (married to Jacob). They enjoy having them near, especially since they now have three grandkids, Caleb, Chloe, and James! However, they know that may not always be the case, because God may call them back overseas before the task is complete and Christ returns!
