Alyssa Tomalino

Alyssa has served with Wycliffe Bible Translators / SIL since 2016.

She lived in Papua New Guinea for two years doing Scripture engagement - helping people apply the Bible to their lives through Bible background workshops, songwriting workshops, trauma healing, and "Culture Meets Scripture" workshops.

She now works on a team that supports Bible translation in the diaspora. Many languages that do not yet have Scripture are spoken in countries where foreign workers cannot go and where local believers cannot openly participate in translation projects. Her team seeks out speakers of these languages in North America and Europe, where they can more safely contribute to Bible translation efforts.

Alyssa also teaches ESL at a Middle Eastern women's center, using this platform to build friendships and engage women with Scripture through trauma healing curriculum, Discovery Bible Study, Bible storytelling, etc.

She is passionate about culture and language, and about thoughtfully contextualizing both the message and the messenger. She hopes to help Perspectives students see that meaningful, kingdom-focused work can be done both overseas and within their own communities.
