WMS is a closed campus. The school doors are opened at 7:45 a.m (students who eat the school breakfast are let in at 7:35am). Classes begin promptly at 7:55 a.m. and end at 3:30 p.m. Students are not allowed to leave school grounds between these hours, unless signed out and accompanied by a parent/guardian.
If a parent/guardian needs to drop off an item for a student during the school day, a designated drop table is located in the vestibule (area between the sets of doors) by the circle drive entrance to the school.
When dropping off an item:
Ring the doorbell outside the main office entrance.
Place the item on the drop table.
Attach a note indicating the student’s name.
Main office staff will notify the student to pick up their item. This policy will help to ensure student safety and limit the amount of visitors entering the building.
When riding bicycles to school, students need to be aware of the following cautions:
Your arrival and departure times are high traffic times in the general vicinity of WMS making access to the grounds in the morning and leaving them at night very treacherous.
Changing weather conditions can cause problems for bike riders making it difficult, if not impossible, to ride safely both ways.
The school will not be responsible for lost, stolen or damaged bicycles. All bikes need to be parked in the bike racks near the circle drive outside of the school building. Bike riders should then report to the appropriate doors to wait to be admitted. Bikes are not to be driven across the school parking lot at any time.
Failure to comply with these expectations may result in the loss of bike riding privileges.
Bicycles should be walked while on school property during high traffic times.
Soliciting contributions or collecting funds for any purpose on the school premises or at a school supervised activity without the prior permission of a building administrator is forbidden.
Students are encouraged not to bring items of value to school. The school cannot be responsible for their safe-keeping and will not be liable for loss or damage to personal valuables. Students who find items should turn them into the office. Students who have lost items should check with the office. If items are believed to be stolen a report should be filed with the principal and school resource officer.
Students will be issued an individual hall locker for storing books, materials, coats and related items. The District retains ownership and possessory control of all student lockers. Students are expected to assume full responsibility for the security of their assigned lockers. Lockers must be maintained in good condition. Damage to the locker will be charged to the student. Sharing lockers is not permitted. Students are held accountable for everything in their lockers. A student locker may be searched as necessary and appropriate without student notice, without consent and without a search warrant. Locker searches may be conducted by the building principal, associate principal, athletic director, school employee designated by administration, school resource officer, or other law enforcement or agency official at the request of or in connection with school authorities. The school suggests that no valuable items be brought to school. If students bring any such items to school, they do so at their own risk. The school is not responsible for any loss due to theft, damage, or other circumstances. Items left in lockers, gym lockers, or other locations at any time are the students’ responsibility. Students are encouraged to lock their lockers at all times.
DO NOT TELL YOUR COMBINATION TO ANYONE. THE SCHOOL DISTRICT ASSUMES NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR THINGS MISSING FROM LOCKERS or DESKS. Students are asked not to bring items to school, which pose a particular temptation (electronic devices). These items are not allowed to be used during school hours, which includes lunch. Students are to report broken locks or lockers immediately to the office, or you may be charged for repairs at the end of the school year. STUDENTS MUST USE ONLY THE LOCKER ASSIGNED TO THEM. Security of personal property is the individual responsibility of each student. Hall lockers and gym lockers should be kept locked at all times. Items of value should not be brought to school. Do not give your combination to other students. Students may only go to lockers at designated times as specified by the teams and schedule.
The WMS Parent-Teacher Organization and Staff offer Activity Nights throughout the school year. Activity nights provide students the opportunity to participate in open gym activities, dancing, movies, bingo, etc. Tickets are ONLY sold in advance to students with signed permission slips by the WMS PASTA (Parents and Staff Together Association) and are not available to be purchased at the event. PTO parents provide supervision for all activity nights, and all parents are encouraged to volunteer. Activity Nights are for current WMS students only. No other students will be permitted to attend.
