Fall Learning Options

Fall 2020 Learning Options

The information below is designed to assist students and families with their educational decision for the fall of 2020. All WHS students will have a choice to start the school year in WUSD Virtual 2.0 with WHS staff providing virtual instruction that may become face to face instruction once approved by the school board; or through the Edgenuity platform ; or through the JEDI Virtual Charter School.

Option 1 - WUSD Classroom Model

September 1-25, students enrolled in the district 6-12 instructional model will participate in courses facilitated by district staff and utilize district curriculum and resources. Recordings and resources will be posted for access. During afternoons, teachers work with virtual or with small groups of students determined to have identified special needs.

The WUSD School Board will announce their decision at the Monday, September 14 board meeting whether students will remain in a virtual learning format as of September 28 or return to the WHS building for face-to-face instruction. If the decision is to return to the high school, we will implement our traditional schedule. If the board decides at that time to stay virtual or at any time during face-to-face instruction, it becomes necessary to close the facility, students will continue the same virtual learning format of weeks 2-4.

Option 2- Edgenuity Virtual Platform

This option is for families wanting to stay in a virtual model for the semester or year, regardless of the board decision on September 14. What can you expect if you choose the Edgenuity Virtual Platform?

  • Students choosing the virtual model will attend their Edgenuity virtual courses from home on all days.

  • The curriculum and instruction is fully implemented by Edgenuity.

  • Students will experience all learning remotely and will not attend in person instruction, regardless of school board decisions.

  • An Edgenuity Learning Contact will monitor student progress and offer support academically.

  • Not all electives available in person may be available. Please check availability with WHS counselors.

Option 3- Jedi Virtual Platform

This is similar to option 2 with the exception that the curriculum and instruction is fully implemented and overseen by JEDI. What can you expect if you choose the “JEDI” model?

  • Students choosing the fully virtual charter option through JEDI will attend virtually from home using the JEDI curriculum and will need to commit for at least 1 semester per JEDI.

  • Students will experience all learning remotely and are not expected to attend in person.

  • The curriculum and instruction is fully implemented by JEDI.

In Summary

WHS families that are planning to return to the building pending board approval are encouraged to enroll for the year in Option 1, the WUSD Virtual 2.0 model. Families that are not planning on a return to the building this year should choose Option 2 or 3.
