Welcome to Math with Mr. McDonald

Mr. McDonald is excited to join the faculty at Whitewater High School as he begins his sixth year in education. Originally from Wausau, he is pleased to make southeastern Wisconsin his new home. This year, he will teach Algebra I, Geometry, and AP Statistics, in addition to serving as advisor to the Math Team.

Mr. McDonald earned a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering with a minor in Business Administration from Marquette University in Milwaukee. Before transitioning to education, he worked as a civil engineer specializing in highway design, site development, and utility coordination. His engineering experience allows him to bring real-world applications into the classroom and helps students see how mathematics is used to solve practical problems.

He is passionate about helping students develop confidence in mathematics, strengthen their problem-solving skills, and appreciate the value of logical thinking. He enjoys sharing his enthusiasm for mathematics and encouraging students to challenge themselves academically.

Outside of school, Mr. McDonald enjoys singing, golfing, cheering on the Green Bay Packers, and spending time with his two daughters. His older daughter is taking a gap year while applying to medical school, and his younger daughter is a sophomore at the University of Wisconsin–La Crosse, where she is majoring in Pre-Law. He looks forward to becoming part of the Whitewater community and helping students achieve success both inside and outside the classroom.
