Throughout my work in Benchmark A/ B, I got to research the different SDG's and what they mean. I narrowed down the one I was interested in, being Life on Land. I researched this SDG throughout Glocal issues, and identified where these problems are happening near me. All around me, there are animals staying in shelters for long periods of time, possibly leading the animal into depression. So I wanted to possibly help these animals not only where they currently live, but to possibly find them a home.
To combat Life on Land, I could volunteer at an "Adopt-A-Pet" fundraiser or at a local animal shelter to help raise awareness and attention to the animals in the shelters, and possibly get them to a loving furever home.
During this work time, I did a deep dive on the SDG: Life on Land. I wanted to focus on the animals who are left out on the street or are being sent to kill shelters because they aren't being adopted. So for my capstone project, i want to volunteer my time to the SPCA, and help look after the animals and potentially help them get adopted.
In this benchmark, I created a Take Action to carefully hone into what I wanted to do for my SDG, which I chose to be life on land. In this document, I outlined my plan to volunteer at one of my local animal shelters.
This benchmark I went over my timeline, which was highlighting what I was going to do in a somewhat orderly fashion. I also took into regard what I needed and what I needed to do in order to successfully carry out my plan.
This benchmark was me actually carrying out my plan, going to the shelter along with my sister and helping around with the employees and animals, which was a new and fun experience.
