People don't know how bad the environment truly is. It is estimated there is 75 million to 200 million tons of plastic waste in the water. 75% of non-ice land has been modified by humans. Through this we have lost 85% of wet-lands and one third of global forests. Overall, over one million species are now threatened for extinction And so many are already gone.
Climate change. Harsher natural disasters. Less breathable air. Hotter earth. Things that don't require to move, eat, or breathe have felt the effects of what human carelessness has done. Ice caps have been melting at an accelerating rate. Raising the global sea level. The same water we drink is the same water that can crush buildings, cars, houses, and it'll only get easier as the sea rises.
So much trash has been left around for animals to eat. Not knowing what the trash is, or for the need of food as their prey number has gone down due to the environmental issues humans have created. Landfills near water wash trash through the ocean, sprinkling more and more trash for sea creatures to eat and for it to wash up on countries shores. So much of it, almost impossible to clean it all up.
This barley scrapes the surfaces of the issues we humans are facing. The problem is people not realizing the gravity of it. We want to bring forward the issue that this is our reality. The future is always coming and it will never slow down. As every human is being pushed to the future, they need to realize what they will be living with. Showing young students to learn how to advocate and be aware will help combat the environmental issues we face.
