The Showcase of Excellence is an event held every year to demonstrate projects students have done throughout the school year. Classes who participate show a project they've worked on that display the learning that has been done in class.
I, being part of the Academy of Global Studies (AGS), took my turn at presenting my SDG on how one can help one's health and possibly be more aware of what they can do to help themselves and others. Below are two points mentioned in my presentation.
Since we've learned more about SDG 3 in a previous tab, let's start with things you can do to contribute to a healthier society. Hydration, eating well, and exercising are all things you can do to improve your health. All these three things go hand in hand. Eating well helps you gain energy for the day and as well as hydration helping you have a clear state of mind. With exercise, whether you are walking down the hall or simply having a fun game that moves you and keeps you active can help improve your ability to do everyday activities.
If we are going to learn about good health, it is also equally as important to know about bad health. There are many things that can harm one's health. This can include alcohol, smoking, or eating out. Excessive alcohol use can have its long term effects. Leading to the development of chronic diseases such as high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke, liver disease, and digestive problems. Smokers tend to develop lung problems such as emphysema (breathlessness) and chronic bronchitis (airway to your lungs get inflamed). Lastly, fast food. Fast food isn't necessarily bad. It can be your treat after a long day of work. However if most of your diet consists of fast food, you may be at risk of obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes, and various cardiovascular conditions.
