It went well, My mother was a major help in my capstone project by using her plants to determine if the compost was making a positive change. a positive change.
Gathering materials was probably the hardest part, as acquiring enough to make an impact was challenging. I found it a bit intimidating to ask for donations, and it felt awkward to offer compost to people since I consider myself to be a bit strange.
The main goal was to gather old, common dirt mixed with grass and soil, and then implement compost by adding organic waste such as apples, vegetables, and used banana peels. We let this mixture sit in a bucket to ferment, which helps create better soil for fertilization.
I didn't feel confident enough to undertake something really large, so I decided it was best to start small and conduct the composting experiment with my family. Once we gained some experience, we could then expand it to a local greenhouse.
Another issue I encountered with my mother was the smell of bugs that slowly made their way into the compost. These organic little creatures breaking down the organic matter created an unpleasant odor.
I plan to get organic compost and donate it to a local greenhouse or our school. For the Night of Excellence, I want to showcase my project by bringing the compost along with a plant. I will demonstrate the difference between using organic compost and local non-organic materials, highlighting how this choice can benefit our lives!
I'm also working on developing a website focused on DIY painting and home improvement to help people save money. The goal is to create a free online guide for DIY repairs and sustainable methods, which aligns with Sustainable Development Goal 9. Asking questions from a company that specializes in painting and construction can enhance the reliability of the information provided.
