Mrs. Whitehead has taught choir since 2003 and has been teaching in Westfield since 2007. She has a Bachelors of Science Degree in Music Education from Ball State University; a Masters in Music Education from Anderson University; Orff Schulwerk Certification from Anderson University; and has completed her training as a School Administrator from Purdue University.
Sixth grade choir is open to all students in the Westfield Class of 2033. Choir is a curricular class meaning that it meets during the school day. There are NO before or after school rehearsals or practices.
Choir will meet four days a week during the 2026-2027 school year: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesdays, students will attend their Quad's WINN time to receive additional small group and/or remidiation instruction.
Attendance is required at each scheduled concert. Those concerts include: Fall Concert (October 2026); Winter Concert (December 2026); Spring Break Concert (March 2027); and the WWS Music Fest (May 2027). Any additional performances through the school year would be optional (National Anthem performance at local athletic events, etc).
In addition to performance experience, students will learn proper singing technique through a state standards-based curriculum. Students will also be trained in sight-singing and music theory. These skills are necessary to become a well-rounded musician.
The official register (signup) window is closed.
