Epinephrine Training:

N.J.S.A. 18A:40-12.6 requires that school nurses designate, in consultation with the board of education, and train school employees who volunteer to administer epinephrine when the school nurse is not physically present at the scene. Human Papillomavirus (HPV) FactSheet:

N.J.S.A. 18A:40-42 requirespublic schools to annually distribute a fact sheet about vaccination against HPV to parents or guardians of students in grade seven.

Immunization Requirement Fact Sheet:

School immunization laws are one of the most effective tools for preventing outbreaks of contagious diseases in schools and communities. All 50 states have school immunization requirements. Administrators of all New Jersey public and private schools, including childcare, preschool, Head Start, and K-12, are responsible for ensuring that all students are in compliance with N.J.A.C.8:57-4, Immunization of Pupils in School regulations.

Influenza Vaccine Requirements:

New Jersey requires all children six months through 59months of age attending any licensed child care or center or preschool facility annually receive at least one dose of influenza vaccine between September 1 and December 31 of each year. Children who are vaccinated with the 2012-2013 seasonal influenza vaccine prior to September 1 are considered in compliance with the regulation. There is no grace period for unvaccinated children. Students who have not received the influenza vaccine by December 31st must be excluded from the child care/preschool facility for the duration of influenza season (through March 31st), until they receive at least one dose of the influenza vaccine, or until they turn 60 months of age.

Janet's Law:

N.J.S.A.18A:40-41a-41c requires public and nonpublic schools to have automated external defibrillators and to establish emergency action plans for responding to sudden cardiac events.

N.J.S.A. 18A:40-21.2requires that school districts annually distribute the educational fact sheet on Meningitis to parents or guardians of students entering sixth grade.

Department of Education regulations at N.J.A.C. 6A:16-2.2(i)require school districts to make accessible information regarding the NJ FamilyCare Program for students who are knowingly without medical coverage.

Sports-Related Concussions and Concussion Model Policy Guidance Fact Sheet:

N.J.S.A. 18A:40-41.3 requires each school district, charter school, and non-public school that participates in interscholastic athletics to adopt by September 1, 2011, a policy concerning the prevention and treatment of sports-related concussions and other head injuries among student athletes.

N.J.S.A. 18A:40-41.2 requires public schools to distribute this educational fact sheet annually to the parents or guardians of students participating in inter-scholastic sports and cheerleading and to obtain asigned receipt.
