KINDERGARTEN
Students in kindergarten will explore music through various experiences using their voices, playing percussion instruments, and movement. Kindergarten students will learn to recognize music notation and music terms. Their debut performance will be in June.
FIRST GRADE
Students in first grade will build on their kindergarten experiences to further explore music. Students will sing, move, and play percussion instruments using more challenging music notation and expand on their music vocabulary. Students will also learn about the different instruments. First grade students will perform in March.
SECOND GRADE
Students in second grade will continue to sing and build on their music knowledge. Small group work is introduced later in the year where students can use their musical skills to create and experience ensemble performances. Second grade students will perform in March.
THIRD GRADE

FOURTH GRADE
Fourth grade students learn to work in groups to fine tune their ensemble performances. Students will continue to practice reading music notation while creating and improvising. Students will sing vocally challenging repertoire including two-part choral music. Fourth grade students will perform their choral pieces during the Band/Chorus concert in January and June.
FIFTH GRADE
Fifth grade students will continue their small group activities to improvise, create, rehearse, and perform. They will build on their music knowledge and experience music from other genres and cultures. Students will also explore music technology. Students will continue to sing vocally challenging repertoire including the more advance part in a two-part choral music. Fifth grade students will perform their choral pieces during the Band/Chorus concert in January and June.
