Westwood Regional Middle School
Builds on the foundation developed in 6th grade while giving students more choice and independence in their creative work. Students continue to explore a range of media, including drawing, painting, design, and art history, while being introduced to more advanced techniques and three-dimensional forms such as sculpture and ceramics. With increased opportunities for choice-based projects, students are encouraged to dive deeper into areas of personal interest, take creative risks, and develop their own artistic voice. Emphasis is placed on both skill development and creative thinking, with assessment focused on effort, growth, and the artistic process, supported through a process portfolio that documents each student’s progress over time.
