Middle level students are given the opportunity to explore a variety of art media while in art class. They will explore color theory/painting, realistic drawing skills, design, photography, a variety of crafts, and art history/culture. The goals of the program are to give every student an opportunity to succeed, and to increase awareness of art and visual literacy. Students are assessed on their work ethic, effort, the process of creative inquiry and risk taking, Each student will maintain a folder/portfolio that contains sketches, written reflections and more. This process portfolio, together with other assessments demonstrates evidence of progress and growth for both the student and teacher to observe.
