Reading and Writing

The students will take part in the Orton-Gillingham reading program, and Reading and Writing Workshop.  By using these methods,  students will gain the necessary skills that they need in order to understand reading and writing concepts.  These programs will achieve phonics, comprehension, spelling, and reading fluency skills by using a multi-sensory approach.   This program will also help them with their writing, and will allow them to express their thoughts and ideas.   

Math

EnVisions is the math program that the students will be utilizing to help them learn their math skills.  It is a very hands-on program, and will allow the students to be very successful and achieve all of their math goals.  It is aligned to the Common Core Standards and the topics that will be handled in depth are Addition, Subtraction, Number Patterns, Base 10, Algebraic Thinking, Length, Time, Data, Geometry, and Fractions.  Testing will be done at the end of each chapter. 

Science

The students will be learning three units through the FOSS/Mystery science programs.  The units are Sound and Light, Air and Weather, and Plants and Animals.

Social Studies

The students will be learning all about our classroom and school, economics (goods and services), families, American holidays, folklore and maps.
