The Dolch sight word list compiles 220 words that are commonly found in print. These words are targeted because they do not follow the patterns of the English language. Most children will master these words as they increase their reading fluency. You can go to the link below to view the Dolch sight word list. The list goes up to third grade.

Games to make:
Once you see that your child has mastered all of the sight words up until first grade, start practicing the second and third grade word lists for more of a challenge.
Sight word Bingo: Make bingo boards with the sight word lists up until first grade and play a game of Sight Word BINGO!
Memory game: Write out the Dolch sight words up until first grade on index cards and make sure you make doubles of the word. Turn them all face down. The first player flips over two cards and sees if they can make a match. Then the second player does the same thing until both players have made matches.
Go Fish: Write out all of the Dolch sight words up until first grade twice. Each player gets 5-7 cards. The rest of the cards go into a pile in the middle of the table or floor. The first player asks, "Do you have the word "as?" Then the second player will say yes or no. If the second player says yes, then they will need to give their card to the first player. This means that the first player has a match and lays it in front of them. If the second player says no, then the first player will need to "Go Fish." This means that they will need to choose another card from the middle pile. The game ends when there are no more cards left. Good luck!
Flash cards: Write out all of the Dolch sight words up until first grade on index cards and begin to practice at least five of them each night.
