US History 2 CP Planning Guide 2024-25
Use this document to prepare for weekly readings and track progress for the class. The dates in the left most columns are Mondays, and the student should read the material in the right hand box for each week before the Monday in the same column. Weeks with "Class Notes" in the right hand column have no outside reading and students will cover all material in class.

Focus on Numeracy:
I have completed my Doctoral studies and have earned my degree from the University of SC. The study/research was the result of a long term effort of mine as a teacher - the idea of using numeracy (mathematical literacy) to add to the study of history. As a result, we will be incorporating, biweekly, the creation and interpretations of spreadsheets, charts, graphs, maps, etc. to deepen our understanding of what we are currently studying. The map to the left is called a choropleth, and numeracy instruction allows the students to interpret it correctly.
