Occupational Therapy Tip of the Month
Happy New Year!!
As the weather is colder and the snow starts to fall, try and take advantage of outdoor play when possible. Making snowballs or snowmen is a great gross and fine motor activity. If your family is interested in snow tubing, snowboarding or skiing visit the local ski mountains.
When the snow does come, a fun activity that Ms. Ariana loves to do is Snow Painting! You can mix some food coloring with warm water in a spray bottle and make beautiful landscapes outside!
Baking and cooking continue to be a great activities that incorporate organization, mixing, kneading, and cooking. Even making cookies into letters of the alphabet and numbers is a great way to build skills! Sharing these goodies with a handwritten note is also a great way to work on fine motor/handwriting skills.
Don't forget those inside activities too! Sometimes it's just too cold to be outside so take advantage of indoor play. Board games and craft activities are a great way to work on a variety of skills.
