All breakout kits have similar items: a large box (to hold the item players are retrieving), a hasp and locks. (The clues change based on the game you are playing.) A basic box will use the same types of things so that users can play different games without having to buy more items for each new breakout.
Breakout Box: Holds the end "prize" or item needed to be retrieved. Has the final lock(s) attached.
Small Box: Contains a clue or part of a clue needed to solve the Breakout Box (pictured is a 3 digit lock box - any small box(es) will work as long as you can put a lock on them)
Hasp: Allows more than 1 lock to go on a box
Locks:
5 Letter Lock - Player needs to find 4-5 letters (the last one can be blank on some locks). Careful - this lock doesn't always read as a real word!Â
3 Digit or 4 Digit Lock - Players will find different combinations of numbers
Key Lock - physically has a key that players will use to unlock. (In digital games it may not be used or represented in another way)
Directional Lock - Players will use directions (up, down, left, right or north, west, east, south) to unlock this lock. (Some locks will have them "slide" the directions or they will be similar to the 5 letter lock)
Extras:
Hint Cards - Usually there are 2 hint cards that can be turned in for help (but not answers!)
UV Light/Pen - Can be used to write "secret" messages
Breakout Signs - Signs inside the box for when players "win" and unlock the box.
