1st - 6th Grade Field Day will be held on September 25th. Pre-K and Kindergarten Field Day will be held on May 7th, 2027.
Kinder - 2nd Grade
August - September
Students will be learning and demonstrating a variety of motor skills and movement patterns. We will be focusing on large gross motor movements, body management and balance, weight transfer, and coordination.
October - December
Students will build on their body control and coordination and start implementing movements including stretching, running, throwing, catching, kicking, and dribbling.
January - February
Students will continue building on balance and coordination and add in skills including jumping, climbing, striking, dancing, grouping and moving together, and following/landing patterns.
March - May
Students will combine all the skills they have learned and build their sportsmanship and teamwork skills while also learning about the importance of fitness and the health benefits of being active.
3rd - 6th PE
August - September
Students will build up their aerobic stamina and confidence learning basic fitness skills to build a foundation for the year. We will work on different tempos of movement, body position, and recognizing the importance of warm-up and cool down related to vigorous physical activity.
October - December
Students will build their skills focusing on throwing, catching, kicking, climbing, jumping, dribbling, and running. There will be a strong emphasis on teamwork and sportsmanship while working and moving together and opposite of each other.
January - February
Students will be covering a variety of skills to increase their physical fitness and stamina including striking, dancing, tumbling, balancing, and partner and teamwork. They will also be learning different fitness circuits and techniques for a healthy lifestyle.
March - May
Students will combine all the skills they have learned and build their sportsmanship and teamwork skills while also showing their abilities through many team games and activities. They will be building on the components of health-related fitness including strength, endurance and flexibility.
7th and 8th PE
Core Physical Education
Students will be covering exercise and movements using the SPARK curriculum. This will include skills used in soccer, basketball, volleyball, climbing, and fitness. We will be learning the technical skills to perform theses different sports to the best of each one's ability.
Games Galore
Students will be covering a variety of skills such as throwing, catching, kicking, offense, defense, and running. The main goal will be to keep moving and having fun while learning or perfecting these skills. We will also be focusing on sportsmanship and teamwork while learning new games and playing some old favorites. Students will also be creating their own game to teach the group.
Court Games
Students will be covering a variety of skills that are needed when playing on a court. They will include teamwork, leadership, sportsmanship, balance, agility, running, throwing, spiking, catching, passing, dribbling, offense, and defense.
Sports Skills/Personal Fitness
Students will be covering a variety of skills to increase their physical fitness and stamina. Each week we will be running a timed mile to see improvements over the six weeks in stamina and speed. We will be working on creating effective and safe personal fitness routines and learning correct movements when lifting weights or using body weight to work out. We will also be working on specific skills that help with sports including balance, agility, coordination, flexibility, commitment, and dedication.
Stack n’ Climb
In this class, students will be learning all about cup stacking. We will learn about the different stack patterns (ex. 3-3-3, 3-6-3, 1-10-1, ect.) and the basics of speed stacking for competition. There will possibly be an opportunity to compete in a sport stacking competition towards the end of the block as well. We’ll also be rock climbing each week using the traverse wall and the auto-belay wall.
Couch to 5K
We will be following a six week Couch to 5K workout routine to get our bodies prepared to run a 5K (3.1 miles) without stopping. This class is for beginners who want to get into running and fitness and build their stamina by running longer distances. The goal will be to have the opportunity to run a 5K together as a class at the end of the year/beginning of the summer. Students will be expected to bring needed items to dress appropriately for running/working out each day outside.
Outdoor/Yard Games
Students will be learning all about games played outside. We’ll try out common yard games and learn about ones from other countries. Yard games require players to move their bodies, improving their motor skills and coordination, through running, jumping, throwing and catching. These activities will enhance students’ gross motor skills and fine motor skills, leading to better physical control and dexterity.
