I first became part of the Walnut Valley family in 1994 when I started teaching English at Walnut High School. Seven years later, I transferred to Suzanne Middle School and have been a part of the Language Arts Department since 2001. I love being a teacher, and I believe that learning should extend beyond the classroom.
I earned my Bachelor of Arts in English and Masters in Education at UCLA. (Go Bruins!) In addition to these degrees, I have a Preliminary Administrative Services Credential from APU. I am also a Google for Education Certified Innovator, 2014 Lead PBS Digital Innovator, and PBS SoCaL American Graduate Champion. In 2012, I was selected by Microsoft to attend their Partners in Learning U.S. Forum where 102 educators from all over the United States were chosen to showcase their use of innovative technology in the classroom. In the same year, I was honored by my colleagues when they nominated me as their Teacher of the Year.
When away from work, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am married with two adult children. My son is studying aerospace and mechanical engineering at UCI, and my daughter is studying English at UCLA. All four of us love to travel, and we have logged thousands of miles, domestically and internationally. I also love to ski, read historical fiction novels, sip gourmet coffee, indulge in afternoon tea, and watch PBS Masterpiece productions.Â
Every year, I forward to a fantastic year with all my classes. I hope to instill a love of learning in my students and help them achieve beyond their own expectations.
