Class Overview
Welcome to Connected Classrooms: Interactive & Collaborative Learning Hub, your dedicated platform for transforming teaching into a vibrant, participatory, and student-centered experience. This course explores the transformative power of interaction and collaboration in reshaping classroom dynamics, empowering learners, and enhancing instructional quality across diverse educational settings.
This hub is designed for educators who are ready to move beyond traditional, lecture-based methods and embrace a more active, inclusive, and community-driven model of teaching. At its core is the belief that students learn most effectively when they are actively engaged, when they collaborate with peers, co-construct knowledge, and take meaningful ownership of their learning journey.
Throughout the course, participants will delve into the fundamental principles of interactive learning, which emphasizes real-time engagement, feedback, and dialogue, and collaborative learning, which centers on teamwork, shared responsibility, and social interaction. These approaches are further enriched by the integration of digital tools that foster creativity, close gaps in participation, and broaden access to diverse perspectives and resources in the classroom.
Topics include:
Interactive Lesson Design: Designing interactive and collaborative lesson plans that align with learning objectives
Inclusive Group Activities: Creating inclusive group activities that promote accountability and mutual respect
Fair Collaborative Assessment: Assessing collaborative work fairly and effectively using rubrics, reflections, and peer evaluations
Educators will also engage in reflective practice, peer sharing, and project-based learning to build a professional community of collaboration. Sample lesson plans, video tutorials, activity templates, and discussion forums are included to support the implementation of new ideas.
By the end of the course, educators will be equipped to:
Design engaging, tech-integrated activities that foster collaboration
Facilitate learner interaction with confidence and creativity
Build a positive classroom culture rooted in participation and shared success
Encourage critical thinking, communication, and teamwork among students
Whether you teach in-person, online, or in hybrid settings, Connected Classrooms supports your mission to create interactive and collaborative experiences that inspire lifelong learning.
About me
Hello! I’m Professor Kent E. Escobin, a university professor at West Visayas State University - Himamaylan City Campus and a Doctor of Education student at St. Paul University - Dumaguete. My journey into teaching has always been driven by my passion for sharing knowledge and empowering students to discover their full potential. I’ve always believed that education isn’t just about transferring information; it's about inspiring curiosity, critical thinking, and a lifelong love of learning.
I chose to become a teacher because I wanted to make a meaningful impact on the lives of others. Teaching gives me the incredible opportunity to guide and support students as they explore new ideas and challenges, and it’s this connection with learners that keeps me excited about every semester.
As we embark on this new semester, I’m particularly excited about fostering an interactive and collaborative learning environment where we can all learn together, share ideas, and grow. I look forward to seeing the creative and unique perspectives that each of you will bring to our class, and I am committed to helping you succeed in every step of your academic journey.
