Outside Reading Expectations 

Book selection requirements

Requirements for What Books Students Can Read for Homework:

• It's a book you ENJOY reading

• Age-appropriate (or with parent's approval if it's "mature")

• Near to student's reading abilities, i.e., no reading Dr. Seuss books - you're in high school now! 

• Preferably, it's a new-to-you book that you haven't read before

That's it! 

Love comics and graphic novels? Go for it! One small exception is an individual 32-page comic book does NOT count as your "book for the month", BUT a "trade paperback" does!

Prefer to listen to an audiobook? Go for it! Even better if you can read the book while listening to the audiobook as well! 

*Audiobook TIP*If you don't have the written copy, make sure you're doing something simple, like coloring a coloring page or doing chores, while listening; doing so will ensure you're not distracted and can focus on what the audiobook is saying (but also keeping busy enough physically to not get bored!)

NOTE: Webtoons SERIES are acceptable; this means it's a continuous story that has multiple chapters. "One-shot" comics are NOT.
