Core Curriculum
Freshmen Year
Although the Career Academies begin in the sophomore year to allow students an opportunity to acclimate to high school, all freshmen attend an assembly in the January that will introduce them to the various academies on campus. Be sure to stop by the Health Academy table to get the information you'll need and set up an interview. Class selections are made in February.
Sophomore Year
Students will become familiar with the functions of the Health Academy in general. You'll enjoy educational fieldtrip experiences. All students will be enrolled in Medical Core, taught by Mrs. Demerjian. In this class, students learn basic anatomy and physiology and foundational medical terminology while exploring a variety of health-related careers and essential skills. You'll also have the exciting opportunity to job shadow at a local medical facility.
