Course Guidelines for Written Work and Behavior
1. All work must include the following a heading with the following information written in the upper left hand corner of the paper (Name, Date, Course Name and Block, Mrs. Wauters)
2. Homework will be accepted late. There will be a 10 point deduction for each day the assignment is late. Once the unit closes, no late work will be accepted.
3. All work must be neat and complete. All answers must be written in complete sentences unless the directions state otherwise.
4. All papers must be written in blue/black ink or typed.
5. All compositions, research papers and essays must contain proper documentation to receive credit. Plagiarism avoidance and a written contract will be part of the opening week instruction.
6. The following grading system has been adopted by the Board of Education for R Track classes:
Minor Assignments: 50% Major Assignments: 50%
· Minor assignments (worksheets, vocabulary definitions, outlines, rough drafts, comprehension questions).
· Major assignments (essays, research papers, projects, presentations) must be turned in on time. If you are unprepared on the day the assignment is due, you MUST hand it in the following day and your grade will begin at 80% (that is a 20 point penalty per day).
7. The grading system for SUPA classes will follow the district guidelines for C level (college) courses:
Minor Assignments: 25%
Major Assignments: 75%
8. The following comprise your grade: tests, compositions, projects, quizzes, oral presentations, notebooks, homework and attitude.
9. Interim reports will be completed through Genesis half-way through the marking period. Those students who are not making satisfactory progress will receive an interim report.
10. If you are absent, you are responsible to make up all homework, classwork, notes, quizzes or test missed. It is your responsibility to find out what you missed. Check Google Classroom and talk to me upon your return.
11. BLOCK 1 - IF YOU ARRIVE TO SCHOOL AFTER 7:50AM, YOU MUST SIGN IN AT THE FRONT DOOR AND RECEIVE A PASS. IF YOU COME DIRECTLY TO CLASS AFTER 7:50AM, YOU WILL BE SENT DOWN TO SIGN IN AT THE FRONT DOOR.
12. Blocks 2, 3, and 4 - after two lates to class you will receive a warning. After 3 lates you will face disciplinary action by the administration.
13. All excused absences – two days for each day absent to make up the work.
14. Students excused from class due to school activities, field trips, etc. are required to turn in assignments due on that day and to find out about any work missed. All assignments are due as usual.
15. Students must come to class prepared with a textbook and Chromebook.
16. CELL PHONE USE: Cell phones must be put away. If you are asked more than once to put away your phone, you will be referred to administration for discipline.
17. Earbuds, headphones, hats and hoods must be removed once you take your seat.
18. There is no food allowed in the classroom. You may have a water bottle.
19. Utilize the restroom and the water fountain on the third floor only during class.
GUIDELINES FOR WRITTEN WORK
1. Use proper heading.
2. Indent all paragraphs. Be sure to proofread your work.
3. Use proper grammar mechanics (spelling, punctuation, capitalization).
4. No plagiarism.
Choose a quiet space, free from distractions. Turn off cellphones and TV. Be seated at a desk or table.
Ensure internet connection is working before joining.
Be on time. A few minutes early is even better.
Dress appropriately. You are still in a classroom setting.
Make sure to enable your camera. You need to be seen in order to receive credit for the class.
Mute your microphone until you are called on. You may also raise your hand if you have something to say.
Be respectful of everyone in the class. Refrain from making negative comments or gestures.
Be prepared. Make sure all work is completed and turned in by the deadline. This includes reading any assigned text before class. Keep all needed materials or supplies nearby.
Use the chat responsibly to ask and answer questions. It is meant to be used to facilitate conversation about the topics at hand. Avoid using the chat for side conversations with classmates.
Avoid eating and drinking during class.
Avoid inappropriate language or gestures.
