Classroom Expectations

Welcome back WHS students! I am so excited to start this classroom learning journey with you this 2022 -2023 school year. And however this start back at WHS may have you feeling, I assure you that teaching you and inspiring you to learn and grow is my greatest goal. These are some of the tips that can help you have a successful start to this school year.

  • I am here to help, to teach and to guide you through this course. Teaching is my passion and I am so excited to share my knowledge with you.

  • Seek help when needed (teachers, guidance, principals) - my email is tina.clarke@woodbridge.k12.nj.us.

  • We will be using Remind as an additional resource, the codes will be provided after Google Classroom has been established. This is not to be used for direct communication. Any direct communication must be addressed via email.

  • Sign into the classroom daily- keep connected to the happenings in class especially in the event of an absence

  • Use Google Calendar to organize classes

  • Demonstrate learning with completion of assignments

  • Communicate with your teacher and examine feedback

When entering the class, please note:

  • There are NO LATES to class. You must be in your assigned seat when the bell rings. You will be written up for being late to class!!!

  • Check the board when entering the classroom. Read and follow instructions for that day’s assignment.

  • You are REQUIRED to bring your NOTEBOOK, FOLDER and WRITING UTENSIL every day to class. If you do not have these items, you will receive a ZERO for class participation. Colored pencils or coloring tools are strongly suggested.

      • TAKE NOTES IN CLASS! Tests in this course are largely based on notes received!!

      • Class participation is composed of DAILY grades, such as: class participation, completion of class work, copying notes on the board, coloring completion and appropriate behavior.

    • Grading is as follows: 50% Class participation, Class work and Home work

50% Quizzes, Projects and Major Assessments

  • Assignments, worksheets, coloring packets, labs…ALL MUST BE IN ON TIME! Late 1 day = -10 after that it will be a 50.

  • TAKE NOTES IN CLASS! Tests in this course are largely based on notes received!!

  • THERE IS NO EATING / DRINKING IN A SCIENCE CLASSROOM. THIS IS YOUR WARNING. We have ALLERGIES IN ROOM. THERE ARE NO EXCEPTIONS!

  • NO ONE is to be at my desk when I am not there! NO ONE is to touch the windows without my permission.

  • THERE IS NO SLEEPING IS CLASS (OR PUTTING HEAD DOWN, OR RELAXING). THIS IS YOUR WARNING.

  • Tests will be given approximately once a week. There will be a REVIEW DAY before the test. An absence the day before the test does not excuse you from the test. An unexcused absence the day of the test will result in a ZERO for the test.

  • Test seats will be assigned the morning of the test and can change each test day.

  • NO PURSES, BAGS, CLOTHING ON THE DESK. NO WRITING ON DESKS!

  • Labs and activities will be performed based on YOUR behavior.

    • NO CELL PHONES or ear buds during lecture or any assessments! You will be written up for refusal to comply. However after work is complete, you will be instructed, if you choose, to take out devices at this time.

  • You will remain seated when the bell rings. No lining up at the door.

  • Reach out to your teachers if you are overwhelmed.

  • Collaborate with peers using respectful language and behaviors

  • RESPECT the subject matter, your classmates, as well as the teacher.

  • Be patient with yourselves and your teachers- we are all learning together!
