My role as the school counselor allows me to work with children by helping them academically, socially, and emotionally. I work with students in a classroom setting, one-one, small group, lunch bunches, as well as school wide events and assemblies. I believe in taking a proactive approach to counseling while building a safe climate for the students. I work closely with the principal and staff to assure that all our students are on the path to building a successful future. My goal is to make your child’s experience a positive one while attending our school.

Classroom Guidance Lessons

I visit each classroom multiple times throughout the school year and have the chance to interact with every student during these lessons. Lessons typically last 30 minutes in length and cover topics such as school readiness skills, understanding feelings of self and others, problem solving skills, friendship skills, and study skills.

Small Group Counseling

A variety of small groups are offered to students who may benefit from spending some extra time developing academic, social, or emotional skills along with their peers, and to students who are coping with similar life situations. Groups can have anywhere from 2-6 members and usually meet once a week during lunch.

Individual Counseling

Some students can benefit from one-on-one counseling regarding academic, social, or emotional challenges. Referrals from teachers, parents or the students are welcome. These sessions will be about 15-20 minutes weekly or bi-weekly.
