Some of the projects that may be created...
Project 1 - You Can See Right Through Me
Using colored sharpies and colored pencils students will create a 3 part project to show different ways the cognitive, emotional and sensory areas of their brains process and disseminate information. Student will interpret this through visual patterns and incorporated in a portrait with non-mimetic characteristics.
Project 2 - Childhood Left Behind
Using graphic pencils, students will use a grid to transfer a printed out composition of objects that they left behind in their childhood. Students will learn to understand space in a two-dimensional composition through composition and value.
Project 3 - Inspirational Squares
Using oil pastels, students will be able to demonstrate an understanding of inspiration versus plagiarism by using a contemporary work of art as inspiration for a new, personal and original work. Students will learn to modulate colors, in particular the use of monochromatic colors to create color value.
Project 4 - Impossible Landscape
Using oil pastels, students will use creative problem solving to make the visually impossible probable by creating an "impossible" landscape. Students will learn to modulate color using oil pastels, in particular the use of complementary colors for value changes.
Project 5 - Surreal Memory
Using acrylic paint, students will recall upon one of their most significant memories and transform that memory into a surreal composition, influence by surreal artist Salvador Dali. Students will learn to modulate colors, particularly analogous colors.
