Simple Duck

As an introduction to Illustrator, students will be asked to trace a simple cartoon duck using the pen tool with points, lines, curves and complete shapes. The end result is called a vector drawing.

Complex Duck

As a follow up to the Simple Duck, students will trace a more complex cartoon duck that includes value.

Logo Design

Students invent a new business and design it's logo. The business has to be original and cannot already exist. Students will create a vector drawing of their logos using points, lines and curves with the pen tool in Illustrator. Students will then include gradients to give it a more three-dimensional effect.

Business Stationery

Student will use the business and logo they have created and designed in the previous assignment. Students will design a business card, letterhead and envelope for the company. All three should have a similar color scheme and look unified. All three must have the name of the company and logo present.

Superhero or Villain and a Comic Book Cover

Students will come up with their own Superhero/Villain and invent their back story. They will create their own costume that highlights their superpowers and place them into a comic book cover of their design.
