2D Art is an art course for grades 10-12 which can be taken after successfully completing and passing Visual Art I in high school. It is designed for students who want to continue developing their drawing and painting skills while having more freedom to explore their own creative ideas.

Throughout the semester, students will complete individual projects creating only two-dimensional art using graphite pencils, charcoal, colored pencil, pastels, watercolor, and acrylic paint. Students will build on the techniques they learned in Visual Art I while working on more advanced and creative projects.

Projects will begin with a theme or concept and students will have more creative freedom to decide how they want to interpret the idea and create their final art work. This allows students to develop their own artistic style while strengthening their technical skills.

Students will explore color theory, drawing from observation, composition, the Elements of Art, and the Principles of Design. 

2D Art is about bulding stronger skills while becoming a more independent and creative artist. This course is vital for those students looking to advance to Art Major and AP Art in the future.
