AP: Literature & Composition

GENERAL COURSE OBJECTIVES ARE TO PREPARE STUDENTS FOR

• College level reading, thinking, and writing -- with an emphasis on the analysis of fictional, dramatic, and poetic texts

• Conducting varied forms of physical and digital research for the purpose of creating and supporting personal claim(s) for education and life

• Becoming familiar with college media center databases and the Library of Congress organizing system

• Proficient completion of the AP Exam in the Spring

• Listening and speaking to make contributions to academic discourse

• Managing and organizing time and available resources

• Career planning and preparation

*75% Major & 25% CW/HW determines Summative Grades

**AI Policy: The College Board and the classroom teacher recognize that AI tools may be useful for certain parts of creative processes, namely for things such as identification of possible useful sources of information and for certain revising and editing processes.  That said, if a student is discovered as solely creating content generated by AI and presenting it as a product of his own effort, then the College Board and the classroom teacher may assess that student with a score of "O" for the effort.  

***All student work is subject to school district grading regulations.  The teacher reserves discretion to assign scores on the basis of expectations for each individual assignment.  Any day that a minor classwork/homework assigment is submitted late could result in the deduction of at least 10 points.  Submissions made more than five days late could result in a score no better than a 50.  Any day that a major assignment is submitted late could result in the deduction of at least 5 points per day.  Submissions made more than 10 days late could result in a score no better than a 50.
