About the teacher:
Anthony Competello graduated from Kean University with a B.A. in Music Education in 2015 and received his M.M. in Music Education from Rutgers in 2022. A former Woodbridge Alumni himself, he enjoys not only teaching music, but also working as a freelance music director for the New Jersey Community Theatre scene as well as remaining an active performer.
Accomplishments include: receiving the NJACT Perry award for outstanding music direction in 2019 for the show Smokey Joes Cafe, and musically directing the NJ premier of Disaster! The musical, SpongeBob SquarePants the Musical (nominated for outstanding music direction, and winner of outstanding musical in 2022), and receiving the 2024 "outstanding chorus" CPAC award for Sweeney Todd.
When not doing music, Anthony loves spending time with friends, and family, playing video games, and reading anything from research papers, to comic books (and everything in between). He is also the editor of the Wildcat Daily, and the music director for the Avenel Middle School drama department.
