Miss Leone

I received my Bachelor of Fine Arts/P-12 Art Teaching Certification from Kean University. The program at Kean taught me to use a psychology-based approach when teaching art that allows students to express themselves emotionally, using motivational dialogue and sensory experiences. My goal as an art educator would be to use this technique, while following the curriculum, to create a unique art experience for the students that enhances their creativity.

During my time as an art intern, substitute, childcare assistant, and coach, I have worked with a wide range of ages. I am comfortable managing all ages and classroom sizes. Adolescence is an important developmental stage where students explore their personal identity, question their role models, and deal with peer relationships. By integrating my psychological teachings, these students would be given the opportunity to take everyday experiences, cultural backgrounds, and interests outside the classroom and connect them to their art. Using the elements and principles of art in my learning objectives would help convey the artists content as these are the foundations of art.

My art clinicals have allowed me to further gain a strong understanding of effective course planning, evaluation of student outcomes, and adapting lesson plans to accommodate various learning needs. I have learned to create a productive learning environment for each class, and I am always enthusiastic about contributing to the school community.

This summer I was fortunate enough to live in Europe and was able to travel to several different countries. I had the amazing opportunity to visit some of the worlds most famous museums and view art and architecture from world renowned artists. I am very excited to share my experiences with your children.
