Dear Families,
I am so excited to kick off my 14th year of teaching as a 4th/5th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher at Old Farmers! I grew up in Long Valley and went to OFRS myself, so this school holds a very special place in my heart.
I live in Long Valley with my husband Brad, our son Cooper (3), our daughter Cameron (1), and our two dogs, Archie and Luna. Cooper currently loves Paw Patrol and Spiderman, and Cameron just learned to walk and loves to sing songs! Outside of school, I love to cook, read, spend time with my family, and go to the beach.
I graduated from the University of Maryland with a bachelor’s degree in elementary education. After college, I moved to Washington, D.C., and taught 2nd and 3rd grade for eight years in Bethesda, Maryland. During that time, I returned to UMD to earn my master’s degree and certification as a reading specialist. I moved back to Long Valley in 2021 and served as a K–5 reading intervention teacher at OFRS before continuing that same role at LVMS with 6th–8th graders. Additionally, I recently completed a two-year graduate program in structured literacy through Fairleigh Dickinson University, earning my certification as an Orton-Gillingham teacher.
I am ready for a great year ahead and can't wait to get to know you all. It will be an amazing year of growth, learning, and fun!
See you soon :-)
Mrs. Koch (sounds like "Cook")
