What are we doing in math?

We will:

• Continue our second Illustrative Mathematics (IM) unit, Fraction Equivalence and Comparison.

• Compare fractions using a variety of methods (including making equivalent fractions with common denominators).

• Solve fraction comparison problems.

Throughout the school year, we will:

• Learn and practice a variety of math skills/concepts, differentiated according to students' individual needs and levels of progress (using such online programs as Splash, Amplify, and IXL).

• Practice basic addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division facts.

• Practice addition and subtraction within 999,999; division with up-to-4-digit dividends and 1-digit divisors (with and without remainders); and multiplication of single digits by up to 4 digits and double digits by double digits.

• Engage in puzzles and problem-solving tasks.

• Play math games to strengthen skills and conceptual understanding.
