We will be selecting students to participate via a lottery system. Students will be assigned a number and we will utilize a random number generator to chose who will be able to come to this session. There will be a limit of 20 students per session. If your student would like to be included in STEM Club, please go to the following sign-up genius link to add the pertinent information:

- Late pick-up or Multiple Absences from STEM CLUB may result in students’ to not be able to finish the session.
- If the student is being picked up early or absent, I would appreciate an email to let me know that they will not be at the Stem Club. This is for your child’s safety. I also need to have a current phone number for the parent(s) and information about who will be picking up the student.
*** If your student decides that STEM Club is not for them, that is OK. Please let me know asap, so that I can re-fill that spot.
What is STEM?
A: What is STEM? STEM is a real world focus. STEM is hands-on learning that applies to the world around us. STEM builds and teaches creativity, problem solving, life skills, resourcefulness, patience, and curiosity. STEM is what shapes the future as our world grows and changes. STEM is Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math. STEM is everywhere and in everything we do and how we live.
Q: Why choose STEM?
A: Our kids thrive with STEM activities. Whether it be in successes or failures, STEM activities push kids to expand their horizons, try and try again, and accept failure as a means to success. Science, technology, engineering, and math are key areas for building knowledge and shaping the future of young kids.
Q: How much will it cost?
A: STEM cost does not cost any money. Students may want free/low cost items you can find in the home, dollar store, craft store or supermarket (ex. cardboard, plastic wrap, masking tape, plastic bags) if they wish to finish their project at home, or recreate the project on their own time. Robotics or other expensive single-person STEM tools are not generally used.
Q: What do I need to know about my students joining the STEM Club?
STEM Club is developed for students' abilities in specific grade levels. You must sign your child up for their grade level, regardless of their skill level at this time.
Spots are limited to 20 students per club cycle. That number is firm and we can not add extra students at this time.
Students’ must have the willingness to work hard, try out new ideas and explore new materials every week. Openness to making mistakes and learning from them is a KEY part of the club.
STEM CLUB is organized and run by Miss Elisa Goldman, NPE’s Media Specialist. If you have any questions, please feel free to email at egoldman@wssd.org (responses after school hours may be limited).
