The Red Land/Cedar Cliff rivalry is one many in this area are familiar with, and love. For the last 13 years, Cedar Cliff has dominated ours truly Red Land High School football team, and for the 13 years we've been trying with all our heart to beat them but have fallen short everytime. At the beginning of the 2025 football season, our football team surprised everyone. In a teeth clencher game ending with the score of 17-14, Red Land defeated the Cedar Cliff Colts. Freshman Tyson Kirchner, who kicked the game winning field goal, said, “With the new coaches stepping in, they brought a new energy to this team and really put in the work to help us be the best we can. And, we’ve been working a lot harder this year and have been taking practices very seriously this year unlike past years.” He also said, “I believed I was there for a reason and I knew I would make the kick, even though I sprained my ankle bad in the third quarter, stepping up to the line to kick the ball, I blocked everything out and all I saw was the ball and I kicked it.”
As of this publishing date, they have defeated Waynesboro is a huge win of 56-14 and are still undefeated.. Our team has beaten Lower Dauphin and Gettysburg High School in polarizing games where our defense and offense has showed up in big moments. We also interviewed the star quarterback, senior Quinlin Shearer who said. “I think the desire and the will to win and, the bonding between our teammates and our coaches was definitely far greater and different compared to years past.” Quinlin and his back field have been piecing up defenses too. Running back, sophomore Eli Philips said, “The new coach had the biggest effect…the coach prior didn’t really do much as a team. It was more just football and not family related as it is now, which makes the team better.” Overall this years’ team is one to be noticed. GO RED LAND!!!!

We interviewed the athletic director, who used to be the football coach, about his opinions of Friday night's game against the Mifflin County Huskies went. Red Land had made the playoffs prior to the games outcome, but due to our loss we will not be hosting the playoff game; instead we will be playing at Mechanicsburg who are 9-1. “We had a couple of injuries and Mifflin County is a good team, but due to the injuries and just because Mifflin County played good football we lost.” “Part of the reason was blown assignments, but the effort was still there.” Although there were a lot of flags, he stated “we're gonna need to play better football Friday night - “Penalties reduced and turnovers reduced.” “Overall we lost so we definitely have to play better.” Overall we made the play offs for the first time since 2016 and the players are feeling the pressure. We asked a star player Quinlin Shearer his thoughts on the game and the playoffs, and he stated, “it was a tough game but we are gonna bounce back this week.” We ended up losing but it was one of our best seasons to date. Hopefully the upcoming season is just as good and maybe even better.
