Remote Learning Day #1 -1/28/2026
6th Grade and Beginning 7th Grade
You need to do two Essential Elements Pass-Offs per one remote learning day. If you are done with the book, you need to do a pass-off from your All-County orchestra Music or other music. If you are auditioning for JWRO, do the JWRO assignments below. These are also in Canvas, and I prefer you do them in Canvas if you have access.
7th Grade Developing and 8th Grade Intermediate
7th grade: Galop! Measures 1-33 and Appalachian Sunrise measures 45- end
8th grade: Burst! all measures and Appalachian Sunrise 45- end.
Students auditioning for JWRO on 2/21/26 will not do these pass-offs, but will be graded on their solo, scales, and sight reading in preparation for auditions.
Video submissions can be sent to lamorris@wsfcs.k12.nc.us only if you do not have Canvas access. If you are having technical difficulties, I will take your submissions upon return to school.
JWRO Auditioners:
Record Petite Bourree, Scales and Arpeggios, and your sightreading attempts.

Use these steps to sight-read your selection. You will have 30 seconds to review the sight-reading passage in the audition. This is how you use the 30 seconds.
1. Clef (make sure it is the right clef.
2. Key signature (this gives you your finger pattern)
3. Time signature (this gives you where to put the strong beats and weak beats)
4. Tempo (sacrifice your tempo points for accuracy, dynamics, articulation, and bowings)
5. Shadow bow through the rhythm. (get the rhythm right and the bowings going the right way)
6. Check your dynamics and articulation.
7. Count yourself off and begin.
