Let your kids show you how to slow it down and breathe (:
PARENTS NEED A BREAK TOO...
Mindful Posing - feeling strong & brave
An easy way for children to play with mindfulness is with body poses. To get your kids excited, tell them that doing fun poses can help them feel strong, brave, and happy.
Have the kids first see if they can guess what “squeeze the lemons” is. (You can guess- just imagine you have a lemon in each fist, and you are squeezing the juice out of a lemon to make lemonade! Have them try it! This helps them focus and release some energy.
Now all of you take 3 deep, Quiet Breaths.
NEXT, have them choose one of the following poses:
* The WONDER WOMAN: this pose is struck by standing tall with legs wider than hip-width apart and hands or fists placed on the hips (Karen Young, 2017).
*The SUPERMAN: this pose is practiced by standing with the feet just wider than the hips, fists clenched, and arms reached out to the sky, stretching the body as tall as possible.
Ask the kids how they feel after a few rounds of trying these poses. Which do they like best? How come? You may be surprised.
