I have always prided myself on being a very self-aware person and caring person. Skills like that are exactly I want to go into psychology so that I can become a therapist. I have always known that skill would help me in the future. Right now, I work at the Vermont Country Deli in customer service.
For all of my applications, I used the Common App to keep track of my colleges. The Common App also helped me to stay on schedule and on task.
I mostly used Naviance to get my college recommendations and to search for scholarships. Naviance also helped me to build my first list of colleges.
This is what my spread sheet looked like in July when I was first starting out.
This was my spread sheet late September. I was starting to cut down my list and get more specific.
In October I started to color code all the things that were pros and cons. This helped tremendously to eliminate some colleges.
My spread sheet currently shows my application status and what I have to do in order to submit.
Right now I am finishing up applications and submitting my Common App. Soon I will start my search for scholarships and apply for as many as I can.
Tips for future college candidates
Start way before then you think you have to
Line up your references early on
Keep track of all research on a document or spreadsheet
Chip away at things slowly so it doesent all pile up
Find colleges that meet your needs and could see yourself at
Heavily research the colleges you're into
