My name is Paige Renaud and I make functional pottery that is meant to be used every day. I create pieces like mugs, bowls, plates, and other ceramic forms that do their job and look great. I focus on texture, shape, and color to make my desired design. I work mostly with stoneware clay using wheel-throwing and some hand-building techniques. I shape, trim, and glaze each piece by hand. I enjoy the process of working with clay because it allows me to create objects that people can use in their daily lives while also being beautiful. The main idea behind my work is making everyday objects stick out. I am inspired by handmade pottery that not only is incredibly beautiful but also useful. I want my work to feel comfortable, durable, and personal. My goal is to create pottery that is both functional and visually interesting. I want each piece to be useful while also showing care and craftsmanship. Making this work has helped me improve my skills and understand how form and function work together. Through this process, I have learned to be patient and open to unexpected results. Clay and glaze can change during firing, and sometimes those changes make the piece even better than I planned. My work will continue to grow as I experiment with new forms and techniques.
