Born: June 4, 1738 Died: January 29, 1820
King George III was born in 1738. He was the son of Fredrick Louise, prince of Wales and Princess Augusta of Saxe-Gotha. As a child he had strong feelings but slow mental development. People thought he was difficult to teach and he was not able to read well until the age of eleven. His father, who he disliked along with all of his politics, died when King George was only twelve years old. King George III married Charlotte of Mecklenburg-strelitz and they were together for over fifty years. Charlotte was only 17 years old when he married her.
King George III became King of Great Britain and Ireland when he was only 22 years old. He felt an intense duty to guide the country and for a while he was a very good politician. However, he was faithless and intrigued with his friends and some people blamed him for instability around taxes. In the last few years of his life (Starting around 1811 and ending in 1820 when he died) King George III was intermittently mad.
