My 16 year old Japanese Counterpart living in Japan

I started the year talking to Ms. Thielen, about what I wanted to do differently, compared to last year. That I wanted to focus more on the language. So a couple weeks into quarter 1 I bought a 3 month Rosetta Stone plan. It started great I was doing 5 to 10-minute Lessons, of matching words to pictures, hearing a word then putting that with its corresponding picture.

I picked Rosetta because I was learning on Duolingo but it isn't the best. I didn't like how there was no speaking option, and how to progress. So I looked into online programs, and I saw that Rosetta was a big platform that's been around for a while, with good reviews.

It was set up that I had 3 lessons a day, 5 days a week. For 8 or 9 weeks. Each week has its theme, like food, family, and travel. Over the semester I completed around 60 lessons.

The hardest part of my plan was that after every lesson, it's expected to remember the new material. So at first, it was manageable, but soon it got out of control. Quickly it went from single-word questions to long sentences.

I wish that I could've had some say in my course, and personalize it to my goals. Not there standard course for everyone. I'd recommend this to people that can constantly put in the time needed.
