Choice-based art education supports multiple modes of learning, promotes differentiation, encourages student responsibility, problem solving, and self-reflection. Most importantly, it engages students in subjects and art media that target their individual goals. Class time will be structured with weekly mini-lessons, individual conferencing with me, peer-to-peer teaching, as well as individual and group reflection.
Students will be using a wide variety of materials to create through drawing, painting, paper arts, sculpture, architecture, digital art, clay, fibers, printmaking, and even curatorship. With this in mind, we can use:
ANYTHING YOU’RE WILLING TO SAVE OR DONATE like games, empty plastic containers - especially from cleaning wipes, fabric, sewing needles, sewing machines (in working order), cardboard tubes, old CDs, puzzle pieces, hand tools, vice/clamps, small thin cardboard boxes, egg cartons, ribbon, string, clean plastic containers, small pieces of wood, tiles, crayons, biodegradable packing peanuts (they disintegrate in water),paper bags, buttons, yarn, balloons, spools of thread, stuffing, pins/needles, beads, dress form, artificial flowers, old pillowcases, rolls of newsprint or other paper, wallpaper sample books, aluminum foil, wax paper, plastic wrap, old (clean) socks, discarded stuffed animals or toys, bed sheets, blocks
I am simply overjoyed with this opportunity and I know your kids will be too. Please follow our endeavors on Twitter at: GatorArtRoom.
