During the month of January, the Kindergarten music students will be working on a new unit about melodic direction and differentiating between high and low sounds. This unit will directly address Standard E-1.b Respond (sing, move, and play) to changes in mood or form (e.g., beat, tempo, dynamics, and melodic direction); Standard T-1.a Melody: Identify and demonstrate high/low, same/different, up/down; and Standard R-1.a Communicate understanding of musical ideas or moods through a variety of mediums and modalities (e.g., movement, drawing, story-telling). At the beginning of February, the students will take a short assessment on melodic direction.
